Composition Workshop Series

Chester County, PA

Valley Forge HutWeekend and week long photography workshops are wonderful experiences that motivate and push you to make beautiful images in spectacular locations.  However, they generally require quite a commitment in both time and money.  To help the folks that are interested in becoming better photographers, but can't make this big commitment, we have developed these 1/2 day composition workshops.  This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in photography and the making of images with minimal distractions for an entire morning close to home at a reasonable price.  We will spend the entire time in the field, concentrating on landscape photography and improving your composition skills. All instruction will be personalized to the needs of each student. In additional to composition, we can assist you with technical questions, use of filters, how to get the sharpest image possible, and as well as the range of decisions you need to make to create a photographic image that reflects your own artistic vision.

WheelsIt’s not necessary to travel far and wide to make great and compelling photographs. You must simply learn to see the beauty and uniqueness that is everywhere around us, close to home. By concentrating on nearby subjects and scenes, you are free to revisit them as seasons and conditions change. In this series of workshops, we will show you where to look and how to take great outdoor photos in the heart of your back yard – Chester County, PA.

Oakbourne MansionWe will be offering three ½ day workshops this fall. You can register for any one or as many as your schedule allows.

All skill levels of photographers are welcome. Our goal is to help you improve your technique and creative vision and achieve the goals that you have set for yourself. The workshop size is limited to a maximum of five students per instructor allowing us to spend time with each and every participant at each session.

The workshop is applicable for users of both film and digital cameras that allow manual exposure settings or allow changes to the automatically determined exposure (exposure compensation). The student’s camera should support interchangeable lenses or have a zoom that covers moderate wide angle to moderate telephoto.

Contarils and TreeOne of the best learning tools in photography is critique and feedback on images. This learning happens not only on the critique and feedback of your own images but also when other participant’s images are being reviewed. After you have had a chance to review your images from the ½ day session, we will spend an evening providing feedback on images. A critique session for all of the Spring 2013 Compositional Workshops is scheduled for tbd. Information on the time and location will be provided closer to the time of the workshops.
